Long road home

Giving Thanks, an Ode in G minor

On this Day of thanks-giving
As I look fondly back
On Thanksgivings of yesteryear
And comtemplate my lack

I am given to remember
Reflect, and rejoice
That I was so blessed
By God, and not by choice

I cannot be sad now
For tho' things have changed
I am every bit as thankful,
Blessed and deranged

Thanksgiving turkey today
Comes in the form of deli meat
My family's far away
But mem'ries don't retreat

So I close with these thoughts
From one friend to another:
Give thanks that you're alive
And give back, one to the other.

That is the worst poem I have ever written. Thank you.
