Long road home

Having one of those days...

The cold's mostly gone ... only to be replaced by nagging chest congestion, coughing because there's more humidity in the Sahara Desert than there is in Grand Rapids today, evidently, and laryngitis. Yes, that's right, you read correctly: laryngitis.

And as usual, my attempts to get to the motherfucking library just so I can sit down and compose my thoughts seem to be thwarted. I found ninety million things to do on my way here today -- mind you, notice the time stamp on this entry; I started at around 11 o'clock this morning -- and along the way have been stymied by cold medicine wearing off, and coughing fits at the most inopportune time. For example: in the middle of Target during lunchtime, and is it me, or was EVERYONE trying to stand as close to me as possible without actually touching??? I was standing in line at the checkout, and I turned around for some reason and almost knocked over the guy standing behind me!!! If he'd'a been standing any closer we would have been kissing when I turned around, and I gotta tell ya ... a) I'm in no shape to be kissing ANYONE, and b) I wouldn't have wanted to be kissing this guy anyway!!! AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

The other place I had a supreme coughing fit was when I was trying to make a left-hand turn in a busy intersection downtown.

NOT a happy camper.

Then I finally get to the blasted library, quickly check my mail, and once I finally log into Live Journal, some loudmouth sitting one table over, a loudmouth with absolutely no regard for anyone but himself whatsoever, starts running his mouth. Buh-bye train of thought.

I just think it's so damn interesting that, when I'm sitting on my ass at home with no internet connection I will have epic poetry running through my head, and then when I'm finally sitting in front of the computer, my mind is as blank as the screen before me.

Ah, but it's going to be a couple more months of this, so I guess I better get used to it.

And anyway, reading about me suffering from a cold ain't that interesting. Phooey.

Okay, I'm done venting now.

So about this laryngitis thing ... funny thing, laryngitis. When you have laryngitis, there's nothing you can take, except a vow of silence, because it's not an infection or anything. And I'm fine with that, but the trouble is I have this chest congestion which requires coughing. Coughing is about the worst thing you could do to laryngitis, because guess what? Coughing only makes it worse.

Funny thing, making laryngitis worse. I have to return to work tomorrow. 'Twill be interesting, seeing as 85% of my job requires talking!!!!

What sucks the most is I can't sing along to my favorite songs in my car. Aargh. I feel fine; I just can't talk.

And I know there are people out there who would just howl with laughter at hearing about my predicament. Damn them, anyway!
