Reality TV

As I passed from one end of the building to the other, I decided to go outside along the way, this just a few minutes ago. I looked up and noticed the sunset casting a pink glow on some high puffy clouds in the distance ... and then I noticed how quiet everything was. Delightfully quiet, in that way that only a non-electric world can be. Well it made me realize that is what I truly want, that would be the perfect vacation to me: to just sit in the quiet and write in my journal.

And pretty much do whatever I want. Not that I have any grandiose ambitions anymore, but it would just be nice to have no demands on me but my own. Just for a day. Or two.

I would write in my journal and drink coffee. I would go have my hair done. I would sit and stare out the window for a few hours, preferably a window with a view of the Gulf of Mexico, and the beach, and palm trees!!

Not that I mind being busy, because I certainly do enjoy being busy. It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something. It makes me feel useful, purposeful. But it can be too much of a good thing, too.

In other news, Glenn and I went and got our marriage license today. I'm so excited and happy! Finally ... we've been putting it off for various reasons, not the least of which being that we just simply haven't had the money. Down here in Florida it costs almost $100 to get a marriage license. In Michigan, a resident can get one for twenty bucks. So, "Mr. and Mrs." is almost official!! Whee!!!

Now we just need to get our OWN place to live. I'm humbly grateful for people's generosity in providing us a place to stay, but now it's time to move on, and we will...
