Congratulations, Spurs.

2005 NBA CHAMPIONS

SAN ANTONIO SPURS

FINAL SCORE:

SPURS 81

PISTONS 74

Detroit Pistons ... what can I say? "Thank You" doesn't seem quite enough. I was with you to the end, though. This Pistons fan appreciates all you guys did to get to this historical Game 7 tonight, and I certainly appreciate what you pulled off in tonight's game. It was absolutely thrilling, and also very nice to see you guys matched up with a team who could really push your limits, and make you play your absolute best.

Detroit Pistons -- you are winners in this fan's heart. I could not BE more proud of you!!! :)

And I hope November gets here SOON!!!

It's Gonna Be A Long Night

Ween is the band, "Quebec" is the album

"Heard that you are new in town
someone said you party down
well, later I'll be comin' round
we'll rack 'em up and suck 'em down

"don't call your mother - don't call your priest
don't call your doctor - call the police
you bring the razor blade - I'll bring the speed
Take off your coat - it's gonna be a long night

"there'll be no 2nd chance for you
tomorrow you'll be black and blue
show your friends your new tattoo
911 won't help you, fool

"you're gonna suffer - you're gonna bleed
I've heard it all before - you will concede
I'm takin' everything - you're goin' down
lock up the doors - it's gonna be a long night

"it's gonna be a long night - it's gonna be a catfight
it's gonna be a gang-bang"

Not really sure why I chose to include the lyrics to the song. Between the bold text announcing the hated opponent's victory at the top and the lyrics of the song you would almost think I was *glad* the Spurs won and -- *gag* -- that couldn't BE farther from the truth!! No, no, no, by structuring the announcement the way I did I'm simply conceding what the rest of the world already knows: the Pistons were pretty motherfucking good tonight, but the Spurs were, better. They won, fair and square. Both teams should be immensely proud of themselves, the whole series was thrilling.

I generally don't advocate violence as the lyrics of the song above might suggest. You really have to listen to the song to understand why I included it here, because it captures the energy I was feeling up to the bitter end. Before the game started tonight this was my anthem, as a Pistons fan, to the Spurs. Even still, I think it's safe to say the Pistons gave the Spurs a whooping tonight. They certainly didn't just hand over the title; they made 'em work for it. *growling*
